How We Review Tint Shops

Our Editorial, Review, and Scoring Process

At Mass Tint Guide, our goal is to help drivers find shops that are trustworthy, responsive, and deliver solid work—not just those with flashy marketing or boosted reviews. We don’t do hands-on inspections, but we do dig deep into publicly available info to form a picture of how each business presents itself and what real customers are saying. Our approach is more about consistency and credibility than single 5-star ratings.

Here are some of the factors we look at when evaluating tint shops:

  • Does the business have a website? Is it helpful?
Going beyond the basics and providing an easy to use website that helps customers looking for tint to understand what the tint shop offers and get general information shows a level of professionalism.
  • Are they listed on Google, Yelp, or Facebook?
We check whether the shop has an active presence on review platforms and local business directories.
  • Do the reviews seem “real” and consistent?
We look for patterns in reviews over time and avoid shops with suspicious spikes, fake-looking feedback, or only a handful of glowing testimonials.
  • Is there a history of satisfied customers?
Longevity and steady customer praise carry more weight than one-off comments.
  • Do they engage with customer feedback?
Shops that respond respectfully to both praise and criticism show that they care. When there is an issue, we want to know how the business will respond.
  • Is pricing described as fair or predatory?
We note whether reviews commonly mention being overcharged, upsold aggressively, or surprised by fees.
  • Any red flags or repeated complaints?
We take repeated mentions of no-shows, poor customer service, bad installs, or warranty issues into consideration.
  • General online reputation.
We include mentions on forums, social media, or local groups that add to the picture—positive or negative.

These factors aren’t scored or weighted in a formula to get our ratings — we use them to get a broad sense of whether a shop seems like a safe bet for most customers. Our listings and notes are constitutionally protected editorial opinions based on publicly available information at the time of writing.

If you’re a business owner and believe something is inaccurate or unfair, you’re welcome to reach out to us. We review all feedback in good faith, but final decisions about listings, ratings, and commentary remain at our sole editorial discretion.
